Soroptimist International clubs work within their local communities to improve the lives of others. Ordinary people can achieve extaordinary things when they work together on a common goal.
Soroptimists also enjoy international connections and combine their resources and efforts for global projects.
The name Soroptimist was coined from the Latin 'soror' meaning 'sister', and 'optima' meaning 'best'. It may be best interpreted as 'the best for women'. We believe that improvements made to support women's status and well-being benefit the whole community.
Since Soroptimist International began almost 100 years ago, there have been many changes in society. Despite progress, there are still many signs of gender inequality in our world today.
By combining nearly 100 years of experience and female leadership with modern objectives and technology, we expect our impact to keep growing.
We are proud of our past, excited about our current opportunities and hopeful for the future. We can build a better world for all.
